Markdown table isn't rendering — what am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to put a small comparison table in a post but it just shows up as plain text:

| Feature | Status |
| Spaces  | Live   |
| Events  | Live   |

Headings, bold, and code blocks all work fine for me. Are tables not supported?

Tables are supported — you're just missing the separator row between the header and the body:

| Feature | Status |
| ------- | ------ |
| Spaces  | Live   |
| Events  | Live   |

That second line is what tells markdown "this is a table".
